In these twenty years the choir has under the direction of Hörður Áskelsson, cantor of Hallgrímskirkja been ambitious in delivering music from old times to present to their audience in the finest way they can. The choir is still going strong, regularly renewing its vocal materials. Earlier this year Schola Cantorum was awarded as Performer of 2016 by The Iceland Music Awards. Its latest disc Meditatio issued by Sweedish label BIS has been widely praised, both for the singing and programme.
