Concert in honour of St. Cecilia, performed by the Choir and Camerata of the Music Department of Iceland Academy of the Arts will be held in Hallgrímskirkja, Saturday the 19th of November at 2 pm. Free admission!
The program consists of pieces for choir, soloist and instruments in honour of St. Cecilia by Benjamin Britten and Henry Purcell, sonata for trumpet and strings by Henry Purcell, as well as motets and madrigals by John Taverner, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Thomas Weelkes and James MacMillan.
The concert is performed by the Choir and Camerata of the Music Department of Iceland Academy of Arts, under the tutelage of Sigurður Halldórsson. Birgit Djupedal will conduct Purcell’s cantata. Soloist and special guest of the concert is Dr. Simon Desbruslais, trumpet player from the University of Hull Music Department. In cooperation with the Hallgrimskirkja Friends of the Arts Society.
